The Dallas Contemporary

Director

Joan Davidow joined Dallas Contemporary in 2001, bringing a diverse background as a well-established museum coordinator with experience in broadcasting and journalism. She is truly dedicated to nurturing, following, and supporting emerging Texas artists.

With an MFA in painting from the University of Florida and a BA in English from Jacksonville University, Davidow began her museum career at the Dallas Museum of Art as a McDermott Curatorial Intern in Contemporary Art. She continued as Founding Director of the Arlington Museum of Art where she gained statewide and national attention.

Her honors include the 2000 Legacy of Women Award in the Arts given by The Women's Shelter of Arlington and selection by the J Paul Getty Trust and American Federation of Arts to attend the Museum Management Institute at the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, forty graphic design awards rewarded the high quality of Arlington Museum of Art's catalogues and publications during Davidow's tenure.

Staff

Megan Smith, Programs Manager, BA from University of Texas, San Antonio, moved back to Arlington after teaching and working at Artpace. Smith oversees staff and coordinates three major fundraising events and cultivates new corporate members.

Megan Goetz, Exhibitions Coordinator, holds a MA in Museum Science from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, and recently served as Assistant Curator of the Texas Fashion Collection at University of North Texas, Denton. Goetz serves as liaison with exhibiting artists, organizes installations and publications, and oversees marketing.

Diane Sikes, Education Coordinator, has an MFA from Memphis College of Art, and has been teaching art at University of Texas at Arlington and Tarrant County College. Sikes oversees the Art Think™ program program, teaching and training Art Ambassadors and organizing youth programs.

Jennifer Stark, Membership Coordinator, holds a BFA in Art History from University of North Texas and served seven years at the Arlington Museum of Art. With her concentrated museum experience, Stark oversees membership and database management.

Cassandra Porter, Campaign Manager, MFA from University of Miami, Porter comes with eight years experience in development at KERA. Porter oversees Capital development, acknowledges donors, works with volunteers and keeps campaign on track.
