Dr. Terry Barrett, Visiting Professor at the University of North Texas, will lead three workshops for all grade level teachers and museum educators on interpreting works of art, from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at various locations throughout the metroplex. The October session will take place at Dallas Contemporary, the November session will take place at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the December session will take place at the University of North Texas, in Denton, Texas.
Dr. Barrett is a Professor of Art Education at The Ohio State University and the author of such books as Criticizing Photographs: An Introduction to Images, Criticizing Art: Understanding the Contemporary, Interpreting Art: Reflecting, Wondering, and Responding, and Why Is That Art? Aesthetics and Contemporary Art. He was a visiting scholar at The Getty Educational Institute for the Arts, Los Angeles, California; visiting scholar of education at the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Arizona; and serves as a critic-in-education for the Ohio Arts Council, engaging school and community groups in discussions about contemporary art.
