The Dallas Contemporary

Art Think Field Trips

Using the Art Think approach, Field Trips are offered to elementary and secondary students and summer programs. During the Field trip students discuss the current exhibitions, receive a gallery guide that challenges them to look at the pieces displayed, examine details and share how art relates to their lives. We also offer hands-on art activities related to the artwork on view. Students and teachers are encouraged to bring sack lunches and enjoy eating in our outdoor sculpture garden.

Field trips at Dallas Contemporary help fill the gap in art curriculum today. School art classes focus on hands-on projects rather than teaching students how to communicate and examining contemporary art ideas in depth.

Serving student and teacher needs, the program uses the TEKS requirements. The four basic TEKS requirements for Art at all levels focus on perception, creative expression, historical / cultural and critical evaluation. Art Think also complies with the National Standards for Visual Arts Education.
